Early Labor
* I can come to your HOME in EARLY LABOR (optional)
* Establish comfort, relax, get into a good labor rhythm
* Take YOUR TIME
* Make sure this is real, active labor

Hospital/ Birth Center
At a time you feel is appropriate, we move to the hospital.

Active Labor
-I assist the mother and/ or her partner/ the dad with…

* Breathing,Relaxation
* Unconditional Encouragement for what YOU need, want
* Massage
* Position changes
* Relaxation
* Aromatherapy
* Music
* Imagery
* General Needs (water, toilet, cooling…) - CANNOT BE UNDERESTIMATED. A dehydrated woman does not do well in labor. A woman who holds back from the toilet will hinder her body's efforts to expel the child. I help you drink water and go to the toilet, physically and by reminding.
**Hospital/ Birth Place communication**
Understanding what the staff are saying, encouraging them to communicate with You, encouraging YOU to communicate with them about what is happening, what your preferences are, what the birth staff need or want to do to facilitate your baby's birth.

Whatever feels appropriate to YOU, IN YOUR LABOR, IS WHAT WE DO. (YOU are the one who is experiencing YOUR labor. None of us makes decisions for you. You decide, we support.)

**-I encourage a gentle, natural, mother-directed pushing stage whenever possible. I do not endorse forced pushing. Rather, the father and mother work together (The father or partner encouraging the mother) to gently bring the new human being into the outside world as you deem best. This supports the perineum, and the mother's experience of the birth moment is much stronger and more beautiful.**

Immediate Post-Partum
Encourage immediate skin-to-skin contact for mother and baby and delay of testing, immunizations, etc., unless medically urgent
Encourage Hospital Staff and Parental Communication about procedures for baby
Encourage and Facilitate breastfeeding
Stay until Mother and Father are well-settled and
Have made arrangements for mother's first post-baby meal
Post Partum Home Visit
One-week check-in to talk about your birth, how you are feeling, make sure the couple and baby are getting along well, look at pictures, discuss any resources you may need.
