Upon graduation from college, I spent several years teaching children both in America and in Japan. The culture of the east taught me the gentle arts of listening; the importance of allowing women to enjoy their feminine qualities, especially while pregnant, and the importance of community for Mothers, Fathers and their children. This combination of time in the East and my studies since bring a sincere desire to nurture both the Mom and the Dad thruigh the birthing process.
As a doula, there is, for me, a fine balance of being "invisible" yet being the support a woman and her partner need. I believe birth is a physical, emotional, mental culmination of a woman's power- and she may need support in any of these areas to fully experience her birth as a triumph. Helping her and her partner to become more fully alive to their birth, to relax and breathe into the sensations, or to simply walk with them along their path, is such an incredible joy. My job is special to me, and I love getting to know each of my client couples and watching, accompanying, their transformations as they prepare for and bring into life the newest member of their family.

"Thank you for your kindness, advice, expertise and 'pure muscle' before during and after my labor. You hold a sacred place in mine and Mateo's history."
